PC Insurance Review 2026: Rates, Pros, Cons & PC Optimum Points

PC Insurance is owned by Loblaw Companies.

But is it actually cheaper in 2026?

A 35-year-old in Toronto pays $142 per month for car insurance.

That is with a clean record.

TD Insurance quoted $161 per month for the same driver.

Intact quoted $178 per month.

So, PC Insurance saves you $19 per month vs TD.

That is $228 per year.

But the real win is PC Optimum points.

Get covered for $2M liability + collision.

How PC Optimum Points Work With Insurance

You earn 10 PC Optimum points per $1 of premium.

10,000 points = $10 to spend at Loblaws, Shoppers, Esso.

My example: $142/month car = $1,704/year = 17,040 points.

So, that is $170.40 back per year.

That drops my effective rate from $142/month to $127.80/month.

Catch #1: You only get points if you pay monthly by credit card.

Annual pre-pay = no points.

Catch #2: Points take 4-6 weeks to post after payment.

Catch #3: If you cancel mid-term, you lose unredeemed points.

2026 PC Insurance Rates by Province

We checked quotes for Ontario, 2022 Honda Civic, full coverage.

  • Ontario Toronto: $142 per month → Cheapest. TD is $161.

  • BC Vancouver: $61 per month → Optional only. ICBC basic required.
  • Nova Scotia Halifax: $135 per month → Cheapest. TD is $149.

So, PC wins for clean drivers in ON, AB, BC, NS.

PC does NOT sell in Quebec.

So, check Desjardins if you live in QC.

PC was cheapest, but coverage limits are lower.

Who Should Buy PC Insurance

1. Clean record drivers: Yes

Zero tickets. Zero claims 6 years.

So, you get the lowest base rate.

2. Loblaws shoppers: Yes

You spend $200+ per month at Loblaws, Shoppers, Esso.

So, PC Optimum points drop your effective premium 10-12%.

So, you save $31 per month on $208 total.

Who Should Skip PC Insurance

1. High-risk drivers: No

TD and Intact take more risk.

So, read Intact Insurance Review Ontario 2026.

2. Quebec drivers: No

PC Insurance only sells in ON, AB, BC, NB, NS, PEI. No QC.

So, check Desjardins Car Insurance Quebec 2026.

3. Need high water coverage: No

Water, sewer backup, and jewelry caps are lower than Intact.

So, go with TD or Intact if you need $25K water limit.

We compared 3 insurers for a 35-year-old in Toronto:

  • PC Insurance: $142 per month → Best for Loblaws shoppers
  • TD Insurance: $161 per month → Best for alumni groups
  • Intact: $178 per month → Best for 1 ticket

So, PC wins if you have a clean record and shop at Loblaws.

Final Verdict – Is PC Insurance Worth It in 2026?

Buy PC Insurance if: You’re under 45, clean driving record, bundle home + auto, and spend $200+ per month at Loblaws/Shoppers/Esso. The points drop your effective premium 10-12% below Intact.

Skip PC Insurance if: You have tickets/claims, live in Quebec, want a broker, or need high water coverage limits. Go with TD or Intact.

My 2026 cost: $142 car + $89 home = $231 per month. Minus $170 per year points = $216.83 per month effective. That beat TD by $27 per month.

Compare your own rate at pcinsurance.ca, then check TD and Intact. Never buy without 3 quotes.
